73% of IT Jobs Now Require AI Skills: How to Showcase Them

A study by the Dice platform, which analyzed 7 million U.S. IT job listings, found that 73% now require at least one AI-related skill. This underscores AI's transformation into a core professional competency within the industry. Just two years ago, such requirements appeared in only 15% of postings, highlighting the rapid evolution of the labor market.

Experts note that AI certifications are becoming a vital tool for validating qualifications. Companies like AWS and Google offer training and certification programs in generative AI and machine learning. According to Dice CEO Art Zeile, holding a certification demonstrates to employers not only theoretical knowledge but also a commitment to practical application.

However, certifications alone are insufficient. Employers value candidates' ability to explain the outcomes of their projects, particularly when they involve optimizing business processes. For example, simply listing Python skills in a resume is not enough—candidates must show how these skills saved time or resources for their employer. Job interviews also benefit from showcasing personal projects, such as AI agents.

Special attention is given to the combination of professional expertise and AI proficiency. Dan Hillman, an interview engineer at Karat, emphasizes that employers seek specialists who can critically assess AI results and integrate them into their areas of expertise. To prepare for interviews, candidates are advised to tackle practical AI-driven tasks, comparing their solutions with those generated by AI models.

Equally important is a strategy for continuous learning. Michael Morris, Head of Platform and Talent at Randstad Digital, notes that applicants should demonstrate a plan for skill development, especially given the rapid emergence of new AI models and tools. This signals to employers a willingness to adapt to change and remain competitive in the job market.
