Alphabet to Raise $80 Billion for AI Infrastructure Development

Alphabet has announced plans to raise $80 billion to develop its artificial intelligence infrastructure. The company intends to sell shares worth the stated amount to finance the expansion of global computing capacity and other corporate needs. Part of the deal includes selling $10 billion in shares to investment holding company Berkshire Hathaway.

In its statement, Alphabet highlighted strong demand for AI solutions from both corporate clients and everyday users. Company representatives noted that current capacity is struggling to meet demand, necessitating significant infrastructure investments. The funds will strengthen the technological foundation for future growth.

Earlier, at the Google I/O conference, CEO Sundar Pichai revealed that the company’s capital expenditures for 2024 would range between $180 and $190 billion. This aligns with a global trend, as leading tech corporations plan to spend up to $700 billion on AI infrastructure development this year.
