Android Introduces Call Authentication Feature to Combat Fraudsters

Google has integrated a new technology into its Google Dialer app to combat phone scams. The feature, available on devices running Android 12 and later, uses a hidden "verification signal" to confirm the authenticity of incoming calls.

The mechanism works as follows: when a user receives a call from an organization or company, the system automatically checks if the phone number matches the claimed source. If the verification is successful, the smartphone screen displays a confirmation that the call is genuinely from an official representative. This helps users avoid deception by fraudsters who often impersonate banks, support services, or government institutions.

The feature is built directly into Google Dialer and requires no additional settings or third-party apps from users. Developers emphasize that the tool operates in the background, without affecting device performance or compromising data privacy.
