Apple Prepares Siri Revolution and AI Tools in iOS 27

At WWDC 2026, scheduled for June 8, Apple will introduce iOS 27—an update that could mark a turning point for the company’s ecosystem. The primary focus will be on revamping Siri: the voice assistant will receive a new design and functionality, including integration with Gemini technology. Instead of the familiar glowing ring, Siri will emerge from the Dynamic Island, and users will be able to open the assistant’s interface with a swipe down from the top of the screen.

The new version of Siri will also enable interaction with device content—for example, checking the calendar for available slots or conflicting events. Additionally, Apple plans to add support for third-party AI agents, allowing users to switch between them directly within the assistant’s interface. A dedicated Siri app will display results as interactive cards, simplifying follow-up queries.

iOS 27 will introduce several new AI features for built-in apps. The Camera will gain a Visual Intelligence mode, replacing the current Camera Control tool, along with customizable interface options—users can reorder shortcuts or remove unnecessary ones. The Photos app will include Reframe (adjusting image perspective) and Extend (restoring cropped areas) tools. Updates to Image Playground, a built-in grammar checker, and AI-generated wallpapers are also expected.

The Shortcuts app will not be overlooked: it will support creating automations using natural language, making it more accessible to a broader audience. These changes will help iPhones catch up to Android devices, where AI features are already widely used in cameras and voice assistants.
