Apple Intelligence Launches in China with Alibaba and Baidu Integration

Apple has officially received approval to launch its AI solution, Apple Intelligence, in China. The Cyberspace Administration of China has approved the integration of generative AI technologies into Apple's ecosystem, including iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and visionOS. This decision grants access to one of the largest markets for the company, which recorded $20.5 billion in revenue in the second quarter of this year—a 28% increase from the previous year.

Apple's key partner is Alibaba, whose Qwen model will be embedded into Apple Intelligence. The company confirmed that its technologies will enable text and image analysis and generation capabilities. Baidu has also officially announced its collaboration with Apple to adapt AI features for the needs of Chinese users. Earlier reports indicated that Apple was in talks with other market players, including DeepSeek and ByteDance.

The launch of Apple Intelligence in China was postponed due to the lack of necessary regulatory approvals. Now, with approval secured, users in the country will gain access to new AI features that debuted in other regions in 2024. This move strengthens Apple's position in China's smartphone market, where the company recently reclaimed second place after successful promotional campaigns.
