Apple Integrates Google Lens-Like Camera Features into Siri

At the recent WWDC 2026 conference, Apple introduced a significant update to its voice assistant Siri, adding image analysis capabilities through the iPhone camera. The new feature allows users to activate Siri in camera mode, enabling the assistant to recognize objects in the frame and answer related questions. For instance, users can point the camera at a dish to learn its nutritional value or receive cooking recommendations.

Beyond recognition, Siri now supports executing actions based on visual data. The bill-splitting feature via Apple Cash resembles a similar Google Lens capability introduced in 2019. This update represents another step in Apple’s visual intelligence development, which previously included Google Lens-like elements.

The new Siri capabilities will not be limited to iPhone; Apple plans to roll them out to iPad, Mac, and Vision Pro headsets. On these devices, users can search for information on-screen, ask questions about app window content, or physical objects around them. Developers can already test the updated Siri, with a public beta expected later this year.

Despite similarities to Google Lens, Apple’s implementation has distinct advantages. The company emphasizes integration with its device ecosystem and services, including a recently announced partnership with Gemini to enhance Siri’s capabilities. This update could be a compelling reason for Android users considering a switch to iOS.
