What IT Audiences Were Interested in During Prime Day: SSDs, Portable Displays, and Nintendo Switch 2

This year’s Prime Day unfolded against a backdrop of high RAM and SSD prices, as well as a shortage of new GPUs. Despite these challenges, Tom’s Hardware readers showed unexpected interest in several product categories. Portable displays, SSDs, and the Nintendo Switch 2—available at a discount—led in click-through rates.

Among the most sought-after deals were SSDs from Samsung and Western Digital. The Samsung 990 Pro, featuring PCIe 4.0 and read speeds up to 7,450 MB/s, was offered at a 31% discount, while the Western Digital SN7100 saw a 40% price reduction. These offers sold out quickly despite limited stock.

The Corsair Xeneon Edge portable touchscreen monitor also drew significant attention. With a 14.5-inch display, it serves as a secondary screen for PCs or laptops and offers versatile mounting options. Though inventory was depleted rapidly, user interest remained high.

Gaming devices also captured attention. The Nintendo Switch 2 was available at a discount of up to $100, making it an attractive option amid rising prices for other consoles and prebuilt gaming PCs. The Asus ROG Ally handheld console, powered by an AMD Ryzen Z2 processor and supporting Xbox Full Screen Experience, also gained popularity.

Despite the lack of major GPU discounts, users continued searching for deals. The Gigabyte Gaming OC Radeon RX 9070 XT, featuring 16GB of VRAM and factory overclocking, was offered at a 12% discount and stood out among available options.
