Disney and Fortnite Unveil Ride-to-Game Integration for Exclusive Rewards

Disney and Epic Games have announced a unique collaboration bridging a theme park attraction with the game Fortnite. Visitors to the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run ride at Disneyland and Disney World can now earn exclusive in-game rewards. To claim them, guests must accept a special quest via the park’s official app and link their Disney and Epic Games accounts.

Rewards unlock on the new Smugglers Gambit island, expanding the Star Wars universe. Players can explore locations like Ord Ryla and Mersa Veta Station, complete cooperative missions, choose character classes, and battle pirates and Imperial forces. The island is built on Unreal Engine 5 and developed with Walt Disney Imagineering, Lucasfilm, and Disney Games.

The Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run ride, operational since 2019, is a flight simulator where six guests control the ship: two pilot, two fire weapons, and two monitor systems. The ride’s technology also relies on Unreal Engine 5, with visual effects created by Industrial Light & Magic, founded by George Lucas.

The integration between the real-world attraction and Fortnite’s virtual world is made possible by Disney and Epic Games’ collaboration. Earlier in May, Disney launched the Star Wars IP Toolkit in Fortnite, attracting 8 million players in three days. This new initiative continues the strategy of merging physical and digital entertainment formats.
