Dropbox has implemented top-level management changes. Co-founder Drew Houston, who has served as CEO since the company's inception, is transitioning to the position of Chairman of the Board. This decision marks a new phase in the development of the cloud storage service.
The new CEO is Ashraf Alkarmi, who previously led Dropbox’s product division. The transition period will involve joint execution of CEO duties, after which Alkarmi will take full responsibility for the company’s strategic business development. Alkarmi joined Dropbox in 2021 following a successful career at Microsoft, where he oversaw cloud services.
Mike Torres, an experienced professional, joins as the new Head of Product. Previously, he served as Vice President of Chrome Browser Development at Google, where he was responsible for key web technology initiatives. His expertise in managing large-scale products will be a valuable asset for Dropbox’s future growth.
Company leadership emphasized that these changes aim to accelerate innovation and strengthen its position in the cloud solutions market. Houston will remain on the Board of Directors, continuing to influence Dropbox’s strategic direction.
