Former Snap Employees Launch Ghost Angels Fund to Invest in Next-Gen Social Media

The Ghost Angels investment fund was established by a group of 20 former Snap employees, including key executives. The project was initiated by Max Rivera, who previously led global partnerships at Snap and now works in Microsoft’s artificial intelligence division. The investor team comprises both seasoned executives and early-career professionals, enabling diverse perspectives on project evaluation, according to Rivera.

The fund targets pre-seed and seed-stage startups developing solutions in social media and consumer technologies leveraging AI. One of the key trends highlighted by the investors is the divergence between "social" and "media." Modern platforms, they argue, are overly reliant on advertising models and algorithms, drifting away from their original purpose of connecting people.

Ghost Angels aims to support projects that use artificial intelligence to create new interaction formats and content generation tools. These may include niche community platforms, creative hubs in music, gaming, sports, or fashion, as well as innovative monetization models like subscriptions or tokenized systems. Rivera notes that next-gen startups stand out for their agility, rapid launches, and public product iteration.

The fund’s portfolio already includes several companies, such as Mozi, whose CEO emphasized that the network of former Snap employees offers unique insights into the challenges and opportunities in this space. Ghost Angels investors believe their experience and connections will help startups overcome early-stage barriers.
