Framework Delays Laptop 13 Pro Shipments by a Month Due to Touchpad and Display Issues

Framework has announced a delay in the shipment of its new Laptop 13 Pro. Initially, the first devices were set to be delivered to customers by the end of June, but due to identified technical issues, mass production has been postponed to late July. Most orders scheduled for July will now be fulfilled in August, with the final batches potentially shipped in early September.

The primary issues involve the touchpad and display. Engineers discovered a rare bug in the touchpad that caused it to reboot spontaneously after multiple clicks. Resolving the issue required redesigning the printed circuit board and updating the firmware. The updated modules have passed testing, including a 200,000 consecutive-click verification, and are now ready for mass production. New component shipments are expected by mid-July.

The display issue involved panel initialization on one of the devices. The screen manufacturer, CSOT, identified an error in the initialization parameters and released an updated firmware. New panels will be ready for production in line with touchpad shipments, ensuring the delay does not impact the overall laptop release schedule. However, some display orders will be fulfilled later—in July instead of June.

Meanwhile, Framework confirmed that shipments of updated motherboards with Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors will proceed as planned in June. Customers who ordered only the motherboard will receive it without delays. The company has also added the option to order LPCAMM2 memory modules alongside the motherboard to simplify the assembly process for users.

The announcement emphasizes that the delay is driven by the company’s commitment to delivering a highly reliable device. Framework apologizes for the inconvenience and promises to keep customers informed about production progress.
