GOG Apologizes for Email Featuring Nazi Symbols

GOG has released an official statement explaining the appearance of controversial symbols in an email promoting *The End of the Sun*. The game's developers, set in a world of Slavic mythology, used Slavic runes in the design, including the Sowilō symbol representing "sun." However, on some devices, particularly mobile, this symbol rendered as the ϟ sign, which is associated with Nazi imagery.

GOG admitted that the incident was the result of "a series of errors," including ineffective communication with the German QA team, font rendering issues, and understaffing during a holiday. A company representative on Reddit* confirmed that the email was not sent to the German audience due to concerns over negative reactions, but the content was distributed unchanged to other regions.

The developers of *The End of the Sun* also expressed surprise over the use of the symbols in the email. In their Reddit* comment, they noted that they had not approved such a design and were themselves taken aback by the outcome. GOG assured users that measures are being taken to prevent similar incidents in the future.
