Google Contacts for Wear OS Tests Updated Interface with Focus on Photos

Google continues to enhance the user experience on the Wear OS platform. The latest test version of the Google Contacts app (1.106.0.914792851-release-wear) features significant interface changes aimed at improving navigation on devices with compact displays.

The main innovation is a shift to a design where contact photos take center stage. The favorites screen now displays a grid of large images, allowing more entries to be shown simultaneously and enabling quicker identification of contacts. Previously, the interface was text-focused, making information harder to read on small screens.

Similar changes have been applied to the detailed contact information screen. Instead of a text-centric approach, the new version features a large photo and convenient buttons for quick actions. This format aligns with the Google Contacts widget style for Wear OS, ensuring interface consistency. While some users may miss the explicit display of phone numbers, the update significantly improves usability.
