Google Offers Free Year of Gemini Pro to Students with New Study Tools

Google is launching a major initiative for students, offering free premium access to its AI assistant. U.S. college students will receive a free year of Gemini Pro, saving $240. The package includes 5TB of cloud storage, expanded usage limits, and access to Gemini Spark. Students outside the U.S. can use Gemini Plus for free, featuring 400GB of storage and doubled usage limits.

As part of the update, Google is introducing new AI-powered study tools. Gemini Live now includes Deep Research, allowing asynchronous queries where AI analyzes topics independently, and results can be discussed verbally like with a classmate. The Student Hub serves as a central dashboard for managing deadlines, notes, and study materials. Notes automatically sync with Google Search, where AI helps structure sources and analyze content.

Google Search and Lens are transforming into interactive tutors. Users can photograph a problem, and AI will explain the solution step-by-step without providing direct answers. For standardized test prep (SAT, GRE, LSAT, MCAT), Google Search offers practice questions and personalized study guides. Additionally, AI can generate interactive 3D visualizations of complex topics and organize chaotic lecture notes into structured summaries.
