Google Gemini Avatar: How to Create a Digital Clone of Yourself Using AI

Google has launched the Gemini Avatar feature, allowing users to create a digital clone of themselves using artificial intelligence. The tool is available as part of Google AI’s paid subscriptions—Plus, Pro, and Ultra—with the basic AI Plus plan already including this capability, making it a cost-effective option compared to other Gemini features that require more expensive plans.

To create an avatar, users need to open the Gemini app on their smartphone, navigate to settings, and follow the instructions. The process takes just a couple of minutes: the user reads a few numbers aloud, turns their head in different directions, and the system captures their voice and appearance. Once set up, the avatar can be used to generate videos by adding @me or the user’s name to the prompt.

The generated videos can be styled in various ways—from anime to 80s retro. The more detailed the prompt, the more accurate the result. In tests, Gemini Avatar demonstrated high precision in replicating appearance and voice, though experienced users may still detect signs of AI generation. Nevertheless, the difference may be imperceptible to an untrained viewer.

Experts acknowledge that the technology is impressive, but its practical value remains uncertain. For now, Gemini Avatar appears more like an experimental tool than an everyday assistant. However, its potential for development is clear—from personalized content to new formats of AI interaction.
