Google has announced a series of updates for the Google Health app, now available to all Android and iOS users. As part of the announcement, the company shared plans to fix bugs and introduce new features aimed at improving data accuracy and user experience.
One of the priorities is fixing exercise tracking issues. Google is addressing bugs that caused runs to be misclassified as general workouts and adding segment breakdowns in run summaries. Additionally, data export in TCX format has been improved, especially when using multiple devices or apps simultaneously. For Pixel Watch users, an issue with overcounting burned calories has been resolved.
Significant improvements are also planned for nutrition and sleep tracking. Google will add the ability to create custom food items, more flexible goal management, and enhanced tools for deleting records. For sleep, a unified view of daytime and nighttime rest is being introduced, along with improved detection of wakefulness moments. The AI coach in the app will feature more concise and visually rich messages, as well as enhanced memory for user preferences.
Long-term plans include the return of structured weekly workout plans, Apple Health sync support, and fixes for children's account migration issues. Updates will begin rolling out this week and continue throughout the summer.
