Google NotebookLM Gains Automatic Sync with Google Drive

Google has expanded the capabilities of its document tool, NotebookLM, by adding automatic synchronization with Google Drive. Users no longer need to manually update data sources—changes in Docs, Sheets, or Slides files are now instantly reflected in the service.

NotebookLM is designed to simplify working with large volumes of information by generating summaries, explanations, and answers based on uploaded documents. Previously, one of the tool’s drawbacks was the need to manually update data when source files changed. This latest update eliminates that issue, making the process more automated.

Syncing respects access permissions: if access to a file is revoked, it is no longer used as a source but remains in the list with an option to request access again. The feature has begun rolling out to users and will be fully available within 15 days. Automatic sync is supported for both Google Workspace enterprise clients and personal account holders.
