Google Opens First Physical Store Outside the U.S. in Japan

Google is expanding its offline presence by opening its first physical store outside the U.S. The new location will be situated on the prestigious Omotesando Street in Tokyo and is set to open this summer. This move represents the company’s first step toward developing a global retail network, though brand representatives have not ruled out the possibility of similar stores in other countries.

At the new Google Store, visitors will not only be able to purchase branded devices but also receive technical support. The product lineup will include Pixel smartphones, Nest smart speakers, Fitbit fitness trackers, and accessories from partners. Additionally, the store will serve as a pickup point for online orders and a space to test the latest advancements in artificial intelligence.

The choice of Japan for Google’s first international store is no coincidence. According to Counterpoint Research, in February 2024, Google surpassed Samsung to become the second-largest smartphone seller in the country, trailing only Apple. This reflects the brand’s growing popularity in the local market and presents new opportunities to strengthen its position.
