Google Enhances Search with AI: How to Find Trusted Sources in Results

Google has announced a global update to its Preferred Sources feature, now integrated into AI Overviews and AI Mode. The tool allows users to mark preferred websites, which will be highlighted in search results with a special badge. Previously available only in traditional search results, Google has adapted this feature for new AI-driven formats.

To add a source to the Preferred Sources list, users need to access Google Search personalization settings and select desired sites by name or URL. These sources will now be labeled as "Preferred" in AI Overviews and AI Mode link lists, simplifying navigation among numerous results. This is particularly useful for users seeking verified publications amid the growing volume of AI-generated content.

Additionally, Google has started implementing link carousels in AI search for trending topics. In such cases, the system will highlight recent articles, social media posts, and forums. Preferred Sources will also receive priority display in these carousels. Google has further added a "Highly cited" badge for articles frequently referenced by other resources, helping users quickly find authoritative content.

This update addresses the challenge of reduced visibility for trusted sources in AI-dominated search. Previously, users struggled to find quality content among the vast number of links in AI Overviews. With Preferred Sources, navigating results and locating relevant information becomes faster and more efficient.
