Google Voice Introduces Two New Paid Plans for Users

Google has announced the launch of two new paid subscription plans for its Google Voice service, which has long been one of the company’s least prominent offerings. US users can now choose between Voice Starter at $10 per month and Voice Standard at $20 per month, with the latter offering a $10 discount for the first six months of use.

The free version of the service, now called Voice Basic, will remain available and continue to provide basic features such as linking multiple devices to a single phone number. The new Voice Starter plan adds access to customer support, the ability to make three-way calls, and a guarantee that the number will be retained even after prolonged account inactivity.

Voice Standard includes all Starter features, as well as AI-powered tools based on Google’s Gemini, previously available only to enterprise users. These include automatic call routing and note-taking capabilities during conversations. These changes represent the first major update to the service in a long time and may indicate that Google has no plans to abandon Google Voice.

Interestingly, the new plans were technically launched in early June but went unnoticed until the official announcement. While the introduction of paid subscriptions may frustrate some users accustomed to the free service, their arrival is seen as a positive sign for the future of Google Voice.
