The iBOT technology functions as an optimization layer, analyzing code execution at the hardware level. Using Hardware Profile-Guided Optimizations (HWPGO), Intel identifies inefficient code segments and adapts them to modern x86 instructions. However, support is limited to the latest processors, including the Core Ultra 7 270K Plus, Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus, and mobile Panther Lake chips, as the technology requires specialized hardware registers.
In tests conducted on a system with a Core Ultra 7 270K Plus processor, 32GB of DDR5-7200 RAM, and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 graphics card, performance gains ranged from 2% in Metro Exodus to 16% in Warframe. Despite the list of supported games now reaching 19 titles, there is no clear pattern in their selection—it includes both popular and less mainstream projects.
Intel plans to further develop the technology and add support for new processors in the future. However, the effectiveness of iBOT depends on the level of application optimization; in some cases, performance gains may be minimal or absent. The technology is not limited to games and also works with other types of software.
