Hacker Leaks GTA VI Gameplay and Map in Protest Against Digital-Only Release

An anonymous hacker going by the name Cyberleak has leaked early gameplay footage and a map of the long-awaited GTA VI. The leak is part of a protest against Rockstar Games' decision to abandon physical copies of the game. The hacker argues that digital pre-orders are a relic of the physical media era, offering no real benefit to players.

In a manifesto, Cyberleak stated that pre-orders were originally designed to address limited physical disc production, but in the digital age, they serve no purpose. The hacker demands that publishers either return to physical copies or abandon pre-orders until release and independent reviews. Cyberleak also opposes 'fake' DLC that unlocks content already embedded in the game and insists on guaranteed access to single-player games even after server support ends.

The leaked materials include gameplay details such as basketball matches, stamina and honor systems, and car trunk openings. The map reveals five districts, a railway network, and numerous small islands. While bloggers suggest the data may be outdated, Rockstar has aggressively issued DMCA takedowns, indirectly confirming its authenticity.

Rockstar Games' decision to drop physical discs aligns with a trend adopted by other major publishers, including Sony. Players increasingly face situations where purchased games do not truly belong to them, with access dependent on the publisher's server uptime.
