Lenovo Legion 7a Gets RTX 5070 with 12GB VRAM, Price Jumps to $3375

Lenovo has unveiled an upgraded configuration of its Legion 7a gaming laptop, now featuring an NVIDIA RTX 5070 GPU with 12GB of VRAM. Previously, the model was limited to 8GB VRAM, but users now have the option to choose a more powerful variant. However, this enhancement comes at a premium: the device now costs $3375, nearly double the starting price NVIDIA lists for RTX 5070-equipped laptops.

The refreshed Legion 7a is powered by an AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 470 processor, 32GB of LPDDR5X-8000 RAM, and a 1TB SSD. The display is a 16-inch OLED panel with a 2560x1600 resolution and a 240Hz refresh rate. The GPU operates at a TGP of 115W, which is 15W higher than NVIDIA's base specification for the RTX 5070.

Previously, the top-tier configuration for the Legion 7a was the RTX 5060 model, which is now available at a discount and priced $1000 lower than the updated version. The additional 4GB of VRAM in the RTX 5070 should deliver noticeable performance gains in modern games and AI-driven workloads, especially when leveraging ray tracing.

It’s worth noting that Lenovo is not the only manufacturer offering RTX 5070 laptops with 12GB VRAM. For instance, the Legion 7i with an Intel Core Ultra 9 29HX Plus processor is available at a lower price point. Nevertheless, the Legion 7a remains positioned as the flagship series with expanded capabilities and a premium build quality.
