Massive WeedHack Attack: Over 116,000 Minecraft Systems Infected

Cybercriminals are actively spreading WeedHack malware, which targets Minecraft users. According to researchers, the number of infected devices has exceeded 116,000 since the beginning of the year. The primary attack vector involves vulnerabilities in third-party modifications and add-ons for the game, which players download from unofficial sources.

The malware disguises itself as legitimate plugins or cheats, allowing it to bypass initial security measures. Once installed, WeedHack can steal credentials, payment system data, and other sensitive information. It is also noted that the malware can be used to create botnets and launch DDoS attacks.

Cybersecurity experts recommend that players download modifications only from trusted sources and use antivirus software to protect against such threats. Special attention should be given to updating system and game components to minimize infection risks.
