Nothing Ear 3A: Wireless Earbuds with Unique Audio Recording Feature

Nothing has expanded its wireless earbuds lineup with the affordable Ear 3A model, priced at $99. The headline innovation is the built-in 32MB flash memory, enabling direct audio recording on the device. To activate recording, users simply press the touch panels on both earbuds simultaneously. Dubbed Audio Snapshot, this feature allows saving lecture fragments, voice notes, or calls. All recordings automatically sync with the Nothing X app, where users can listen, edit, share, or transcribe them using integrated tools.

Unlike the flagship Ear 3 model at $179, the Ear 3A omits the case’s “super microphone” but delivers improved audio performance. The earbuds feature a 12mm driver for deeper bass and more detailed sound. Noise cancellation has also been enhanced, with the manufacturer claiming a 17.1% efficiency boost, particularly in the 400–2000 Hz range where common household noises dominate. Supported codecs include SBC, AAC, and LDAC, though spatial audio is limited to static mode without head-tracking.

The Ear 3A retains its recognizable design, but the case now boasts more rounded contours. Battery life stands at up to 10 hours per charge without noise cancellation and up to 42 hours with case recharges. With active noise cancellation enabled, total battery life drops to 25 hours, translating to roughly 6–7 hours of continuous use. The package includes additional extra-small ear tips for a better fit.
