New Dartwords Game: Wordle Meets Clippy in Daily Quest Format

The Game Band, creators of unconventional projects like Blaseball and Dead Man’s Party, has launched Dartwords, a browser-based word-guessing game featuring a unique hint system. Players must guess a secret word in 10 attempts, receiving interactive feedback from Darty, an animated character inspired by Microsoft’s Clippy assistant.

Dartwords leverages a local language model trained on English dictionaries to generate dynamic hints based on player input. For example, the AI may suggest that the target word is "larger" or "human-made." As players get closer to the correct answer, hints become more precise, with some manually curated by developers. This approach enhances interactivity compared to traditional word games like Wordle.

The developers describe Dartwords as an experiment in "conversational" gaming. The character Darty not only provides hints but also adds charm through playful interactions—players can even "get angry" at Darty for inaccurate clues. The hint system will improve over time thanks to player feedback, making the game increasingly engaging.

The Game Band continues its tradition of innovative projects. Previously, the studio released Blaseball, a surreal baseball simulator, and Dead Man’s Party, a multiplayer game inspired by the film "Knives Out," available on Netflix. Dartwords represents another step into the daily puzzle niche, which has grown significantly since Wordle’s success.
