Arctic is known for its high-performance cooling systems, including popular liquid AIOs like the Liquid Freezer III Pro 360mm. However, not all users require such powerful solutions, especially for compact cases or non-overclocked systems. For these scenarios, Arctic has released the budget-friendly Freezer 36-S air cooler, offering an excellent price-to-performance ratio.
The Freezer 36-S features a single heatsink section and one 120mm fan, making it compact and suitable for most modern cases. The cooler supports AMD (AM5) and Intel (LGA 1700/1851) processors and can efficiently cool even high-performance chips like the Ryzen 9 9950X3D with a TDP exceeding 245W. Its design includes four copper heat pipes with direct contact, ensuring even heat distribution.
Special attention should be given to the P12 Pro fan, which operates at up to 3000 RPM and delivers high airflow (77 CFM) with a static pressure of 6.9 mm H₂O. This allows the cooler to effectively handle heat dissipation even in enclosed cases with less favorable cooling conditions. The package also includes MX-7 thermal paste, which, according to the manufacturer, matches the efficiency of the best alternatives on the market.
Installing the cooler on AMD platforms is straightforward: simply replace the standard mounting brackets with the included ones. For Intel systems, a special frame is provided to prevent socket deformation, which is particularly important under high loads. However, caution is required during installation, as improper setup may cause issues with RAM compatibility.
Testing was conducted on a system with a Ryzen 9 9950X3D processor in a closed Tryx FLOVA F50 case, allowing for an assessment of the cooler’s real-world efficiency under typical operating conditions. The results showed that the Freezer 36-S reliably handles cooling even under high loads while maintaining acceptable noise levels. This makes it an excellent choice for users seeking a dependable and affordable cooler without unnecessary features.
