Philips Hue Launches Wired Modules to Integrate Standard Lighting

Philips Hue has expanded its smart lighting ecosystem by introducing wired wall-mounted modules. These devices are installed behind existing switches and enable the integration of standard fixtures—such as ceiling or pendant lights—into the Hue app. This allows users to control non-smart lamps alongside Hue's smart devices.

The modules are available in three variants: a single-channel version for single switches, a dual-channel version for double switches, and a dimmer version. Additionally, a wired version of the existing wireless module is now available, compatible with the MotionAware system for motion-based lighting control. As of now, these new products are sold exclusively in Europe, starting at €44.99. According to Signify's CTO George Yanni, such solutions are less in demand in the U.S., but the company is open to expanding to other markets if demand arises.

In addition to the modules, Philips Hue announced new Play lamps designed for tables and floors, offering a more affordable alternative to the Signe series. The updated E14 candles now feature increased brightness (up to 470 lumens), an expanded white light spectrum (1000–20,000K), and support for Matter-over-Thread. This enables direct integration with Apple Home and Google Home ecosystems without requiring a Hue Bridge.
