Payment Service Pring to Shut Down in December 2026 After Google Acquisition

Google has decided to shut down the Pring mobile app, which facilitates money transfers and payments. The service will cease operations on December 1, 2026, marking the end of its nearly nine-year run.

The Pring app was launched in Japan and gained attention in 2021 when Google acquired it. The deal was one of the corporation’s notable purchases in the financial sector, though the project did not see further development under new ownership.

Pring account holders must proactively withdraw any remaining funds. The bank transfer feature will only be available until November 16, 2026. After this date, users risk losing access to their funds if they fail to take the necessary steps.

The shutdown of Pring reflects strategic shifts in Google’s asset portfolio, as the company periodically optimizes its business directions by discontinuing non-core or unprofitable projects.
