The company stated that the incident occurred due to a vulnerability in a third-party provider, which allowed hackers to inject malicious code into the site. Independent cybersecurity experts, including PeckShield, have reported a parallel phishing campaign targeting Polymarket users. According to their findings, the total value of stolen crypto assets amounts to approximately $3 million. Analysts also noted that over 11 individuals fell victim to the attack. In recent days, social media posts from users have emerged, claiming their funds were stolen.

This incident further damages Polymarket's reputation, which was already under scrutiny earlier this week. Reports revealed that the company had paid for misleading videos featuring influencers falsely claiming to have won large sums on the platform. In response to the backlash, Polymarket pledged to audit all promotional content.
