Dashlane Users Face Account Lockouts Due to Brute-Force Attacks

Users of the Dashlane password manager are reporting mass account lockouts following unauthorized access attempts. The incidents are linked to brute-force attacks, where attackers tried to guess credentials using unknown devices and IP addresses from unusual geolocations.

The company confirmed that its security system automatically locks accounts upon detecting suspicious activity. This is a standard measure to prevent leaks of sensitive data, including passwords and personal user information. However, some customers faced difficulties restoring access despite having backup codes and multi-factor authentication enabled.

Dashlane representatives recommend users enable additional security measures, such as two-factor authentication (2FA) and regular account activity monitoring. The service is currently working to optimize the unlocking process to minimize customer inconvenience.
