Japanese energy company Kyushu Electric Power Distribution has announced the loss of external storage devices containing data of up to 10.9 million customers. The incident was discovered on June 8, when employees noticed the devices were missing from an unlocked cabinet in the server room.

The company’s statement emphasizes that there is currently no confirmation of personal data leakage. However, the fact that confidential information was stored on unsecured devices and the lack of control over their physical security raise significant concerns.
