Exposing the "1000W" Power Bank: Why Cheap Chargers Are Dangerous

Chinese manufacturers often lure buyers with bold numbers on packaging, but the actual performance of such devices rarely matches the claims. This time, a 10-port charger with a promised 1000W output fell victim to marketing gimmicks. In reality, none of the ports delivered more than 60W, and the total load barely exceeded 250W—while the casing began heating up rapidly.

Upon disassembling the faulty device, the expert found substandard components and hazardous design choices. Instead of a proper cooling system, the manufacturer used thermal paste sealed in a plastic casing without a heatsink. This led to overheating capacitors, which swelled and failed. Additionally, some components were mounted at angles, reducing heat dissipation efficiency.

Of particular concern is the lack of basic safety measures. The charger’s casing could be easily removed, exposing live electrical parts even when unplugged. Residual charge in the capacitors could cause electric shocks. The expert emphasizes that no legitimate 1000W chargers exist on the market—even premium models like the Ugreen Nexode 500W cost significantly more and include overheating and tip-over protection.

This case clearly demonstrates why overly tempting offers should not be trusted. A low price and exaggerated specifications are telltale signs of a subpar product that may not only disappoint but also lead to serious issues.
