Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Gains Popularity with New Design

Samsung unveiled its latest foldable smartphones, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, last month. Despite the Ultra model being positioned as the flagship, it was the Galaxy Z Fold 8 that garnered the most user interest. The device’s redesigned form factor—featuring a wider screen and ultra-thin chassis—proved to be a decisive factor for many buyers.

A survey conducted among Android Authority readers revealed that 58.4% of respondents found the Galaxy Z Fold 8 more appealing than the Ultra. The primary reason cited was usability: the wider screen enhances content consumption, while the compact design makes it easier to carry. However, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 lags behind the Ultra in several specifications, including just two rear cameras, a smaller battery, and a less durable display.

Nevertheless, the $200 price gap has led many to reconsider whether the extra features of the Ultra are worth the premium. About 25.8% of survey participants still preferred the flagship model, highlighting its richer feature set and familiar screen format. Another 13% saw no significant difference between the two devices, while 3% would opt for alternatives, such as Apple’s upcoming foldable smartphone.
