Samsung May Expand Use of Exynos in Smartphones Starting 2027

According to South Korean publication The Bell, Samsung plans to increase the use of Exynos processors in its smartphones starting in 2027. This decision is driven by rising prices for electronic components, including memory and storage, which compels manufacturers to seek ways to reduce device production costs.

In 2026, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 will be one of the first devices to feature the Exynos 2600 chip in select regions, such as South Korea and Europe. Sources note that the Exynos 2600 is more cost-effective than Snapdragon alternatives, helping Samsung offset the rising costs of other components. However, Snapdragon versions will still be available in North America and China.

By 2027, the situation may shift: Samsung is considering expanding its Exynos-equipped lineup to include models traditionally powered by Qualcomm chips. This could extend beyond foldable smartphones to flagship devices like the Galaxy S27 Ultra. Experts question the viability of this move, given the high-performance demands of premium devices.

Samsung has not yet commented on these plans, but analysts suggest the company may proceed if the Exynos 2600 and its successors demonstrate competitive performance. Otherwise, this strategy could risk damaging the brand’s reputation in the flagship segment.
