Samsung Unveils Next-Gen Flex Titanium Displays for Foldable Smartphones

Samsung is preparing to unveil its next-generation foldable smartphones, including the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Flip 8. A key innovation among these devices is the Flex Titanium technology, designed to eliminate the visible crease on the display—a persistent challenge for foldable devices.

Flex Titanium relies on two components: ultra-thin titanium foil integrated beneath the OLED panel and a perforated titanium plate. The titanium alloy foil is three times thinner than a human hair, preserving the device's slim profile without compromising strength. The perforations on the plate ensure flexibility at the fold point while maintaining a secure bond with the display.

According to Samsung, the new technology addresses multiple issues: it enhances image quality, increases durability, and does not add to the device's thickness. Despite the challenges of working with titanium, Samsung has achieved an optimal balance between strength and flexibility, which should extend the lifespan of foldable smartphones.

The official announcement of the new models will take place on July 22 at the Galaxy Unpacked event. Flex Titanium is expected to set a new standard for future generations of Samsung's foldable devices.
