ShadPS4 Receives Major Update with Multiplayer Support

The ShadPS4 PlayStation 4 emulator has been updated to version 0.16.0, introducing several major new features. The most notable addition is local multiplayer support, allowing two or more players to play together on a single device. This unlocks new opportunities for cooperative gameplay or competitive sessions in supported titles.

The update also includes Big Picture Mode, optimized for gamepad control, making the emulator more user-friendly, especially when connected to a large screen. Other improvements include screenshot functionality, initial camera support, OpenAL audio integration, and an updated settings system.

Developers have focused on performance optimizations, including enhancements to Vulkan rendering, improved synchronization, and texture processing. These changes have boosted compatibility, with previously unstable or crashing games now running more reliably. Support for PS4 Pro features, trophies, and network capabilities has also been expanded.

The list of compatible games has grown by six new titles, including Final Fantasy 1, Final Fantasy 2, Inside, and Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy. The Windows version of the emulator now supports 111 games, while the Linux version supports 144. Despite PS4 emulation still being in its early stages, ShadPS4 remains a leader in the field.
