Sonos Prepares New Wireless Headphones with Enhanced Features

Sonos, a company renowned for its audio technology, appears to be preparing a new wireless headphone model. Documents filed with the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) reference a product with the codename S52A. One diagram depicts an oval component resembling a headphone cup, labeled Sonos Ace Ultra. This naming aligns with Sonos' previous product lines, such as the Arc and Arc Ultra soundbars.

The filings also list potential colors for the new model: «greige», shadow black, agave, blush, and sand. This significantly expands the current Ace model’s color options, which are limited to white and black. Additionally, the documents mention testing for local network operation on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequencies, suggesting Wi-Fi streaming capabilities similar to other Sonos devices or seamless device-switching features like those in the Ace model.

The previous Sonos Ace headphones, released over two years ago, faced criticism due to unstable app updates. Despite this, they received praise for comfort, design, and sound quality, though they lagged behind competitors like the Sony WH-1000XM5 and Sennheiser Momentum 4 in terms of value.
