Sony Unveils New Bravia TVs with Enhanced RGB Backlighting

Sony has officially introduced the new 4K HDR Bravia 9 II and Bravia 7 II televisions, which, according to the company, deliver the best color reproduction among all previous models from the brand. The key feature of the new products is the RGB Backlight Master Drive Pro technology, allowing independent control of red, green, and blue LEDs in the backlight. This solution, as the manufacturer claims, surpasses competitors like Hisense and Samsung by combining color data processing from both the LCD layer and the LED matrix.

The new models support an extended color gamut and maintain color accuracy even when viewed from an angle. The Bravia 9 II is equipped with the Immersive Black Screen Pro anti-glare coating and built-in directional speakers to support Dolby Atmos. The design of the TVs includes a transparent central stand, which not only conceals cables but also creates a light refraction effect, reminiscent of the first Bravia models with a glass frame.

The Bravia 7 II is already available for purchase, while the Bravia 9 II will go on sale next week. The price range varies from $1,600 for the 50-inch Bravia 7 II model to $31,000 for the 115-inch Bravia 9 II version. It is worth noting that the largest model lacks an anti-glare coating, which may reduce its effectiveness in brightly lit rooms.

During the presentation, journalists were shown the TVs' performance under different lighting conditions. Particular attention was drawn to the deep black tones of the Bravia 9 II, which were nearly indistinguishable from OLED screens. Sony representatives also compared the new model with the company's reference OLED TV, highlighting the similarity in color reproduction. RGB backlighting technology is becoming a trend in the industry, with similar solutions already introduced by TCL and other manufacturers.
