Story-Rich Showcase: A Review of Key Indie Game Announcements with a Focus on Narrative

Publisher Fellow Traveller, known for projects like Titanium Court and 1000xResist, hosted the first Story-Rich Showcase—an online stream dedicated to narrative-driven indie games. The event featured over 20 projects, including updates for released titles and announcements of new releases. The full presentation can be viewed on the publisher’s YouTube channel.

One of the major announcements was an update for the sci-fi game Ambrosia Sky. On August 6, the second and final episode will be released, available for free to existing owners. Originally planned as a trilogy, developers at Soft Rains decided to conclude the story in two parts. After the update, the game’s price will increase from $14.99 to $24.99.

It was also revealed that the popular RPGs Citizen Sleeper and its sequel, Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector, will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on June 25. Owners of the original console versions will receive the updated editions for free. Developer Gareth Damian Martin also promised to unveil details of a new project during the PC Gaming Show on Sunday.

Other announcements included the release of the horror puzzle game Desktop Explorer on July 17. Players will explore a eerie simulation of an old operating system reminiscent of Windows. On July 16, detective game The Mermaid Mask by SFB Games, creators of Tangle Tower and Crow Country, will launch. The project promises a fully voiced narrative and hand-drawn animations.

Developers of the tactical RPG Demonschool announced a paid expansion featuring a new "puzzle battle" mode, where players must defeat enemies in a single turn using specific characters. The game will also arrive on Nintendo Switch 2 later this year, with mouse support and improved frame rates.
