Trump Mobile, founded by the family of former U.S. President Donald Trump, is facing a major security issue just as it launches its first smartphone, the T1. An investigation by The Guardian revealed a vulnerability on the operator’s website that allowed unauthorized access to personal data of customers who pre-ordered the device.

According to sources, the breach exposed names, phone numbers, email addresses, shipping addresses, and order numbers of approximately 27,000 potential buyers. Trump Mobile has acknowledged the leak but assured that financial data, social security numbers, and call/message records were not compromised. The company attributed the issue to an improperly structured pre-order database rather than a direct breach of internal systems.

An Australian IT specialist discovered the vulnerability after noticing sequential order numbering and weak page protection. This flaw enabled brute-force attacks to access customer data. Jonathan Soma, a cybersecurity expert from Columbia University, estimated the leaked data volume at 27,224 pre-orders.

For a telecom startup entering a highly competitive market, such an incident could severely damage its reputation. Customer trust, particularly regarding data security, is a cornerstone of success. Trump Mobile has since enhanced monitoring, implemented additional safeguards, and warned users about potential phishing attacks and fraudulent calls.
