VR Fitness App Supernatural Returns Under Independent Brand

The VR fitness app Supernatural, formerly part of the Meta* ecosystem, is returning to the market under the independent company Supernatural Health. The relaunch is scheduled for this fall, though the exact release date has not yet been announced. Users will need to transfer their subscriptions to the new platform by December 3, when the old version of the app will be permanently shut down.

Key changes include a subscription price hike. The annual plan will increase to $180 (previously $100), and the monthly plan will rise to $20 (previously $10). However, developers promise to retain all popular trainers, which were the service’s main advantage. The company plans to expand functionality based on community feedback and release new content, including workouts and music playlists.

The future of the app outside the Meta* ecosystem remains a question. Currently, Supernatural is only available on Quest headsets, but its independent status theoretically allows for porting to other VR platforms, as competitors FitXR and Les Mills BodyCombat have already done. This could be a significant step amid Meta*’s reduced role in developing exclusive content for Horizon OS.

For Quest users, this signals another shift as Meta* gradually moves away from its strategy of full control over key apps for its headsets. The company previously dissolved several acquired gaming studios and plans to release a new, more compact version of the Quest headset next year.
