Walmart Accidentally Reveals Budget Onn Camera with Floodlight

Walmart has unveiled its new Onn security camera with a floodlight, accidentally showcasing it in an advertisement. The device complements the recently launched lineup of budget smart home gadgets, which already includes a $35 outdoor camera and a video doorbell. All these devices integrate with Google Home and support AI features via a Google Home Premium subscription.

The new Onn floodlight camera visually resembles the recently announced outdoor model but is equipped with powerful lamps to illuminate the area. It is expected to feature a motion sensor that automatically activates the floodlights upon detecting activity. However, unlike more expensive alternatives such as Reolink with pan functionality, the Onn camera will not support automatic rotation.

It remains unclear whether the new camera will be compatible with Google Home, though the likelihood is high. The price has not been disclosed, but given Onn’s budget-focused branding, it is expected to undercut competitors. For comparison, the Google Nest Cam with floodlight costs $280, while the TP-Link Tapo Floodlight Camera 2K is priced at $97. The Onn camera’s video quality will likely be limited to 1080p resolution.
