WWDC 2026: Apple Unveils Enhanced Siri, iOS 27, and Apple Intelligence

At WWDC 2026, Apple unveiled a revamped Siri, now powered by Google Gemini’s AI technologies. Recognizing heightened user expectations in the AI era, Apple pledged to make Siri more functional, conversational, and visually intelligent. The assistant will feature a dedicated app and deeper ecosystem integration. Privacy remains a priority: Craig Federighi, Apple’s senior vice president, emphasized that user data is solely used to fulfill requests, with independent audits available at any time.

Apple Intelligence introduced several new features across its apps. Safari now includes tab management, while password updates are streamlined with one-click access. Apps can share context—Phone calls will pull data from Mail and Messages, AI-powered reply suggestions will appear in Messages, and Photos will gain generative AI tools like “Reframe” for perspective shifts and “Extend” for scene expansion.

iOS 27 represents Apple’s most widespread update yet, compatible with all devices from iPhone 11 onward. The company promises significant performance boosts: photo loading speeds up by 70%, AirDrop transfers accelerate by 80%, and an improved CPU scheduler enhances multitasking efficiency. New parental controls allow restrictions on apps, websites, and contacts, alongside App Store purchase management tools.

Other highlights include an upgraded search function across iOS, iPadOS, and macOS, enabling faster Spotlight, Photos, and Mail queries. Dictation now auto-corrects spelling, punctuation, and capitalization, while Shortcuts supports natural language for easier automation. The Health app adds tracking for perimenopause and menopause, addressing growing demand for digital health solutions.
